America 250

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Words on parchment written and ratified 250 years ago in Philadelphia.  They are the preamble to a document that would change world history in ways unimaginable to the signatories, their families, their friends, and their fellow patriots as well as every generation since. These simple words carefully arranged by Thomas Jefferson and his compatriots would send a very clear message to a king in England but more importantly, they would ignite a fire in a people starved for liberty…
