Ivey Gaskin Baker, CFP®

Communication & Relationship Manager

Financial Advisor, RJFS

Ivey serves the Gaskin Asset Management team as our Communication and Relationship Manager and Financial Advisor. Ivey is responsible for working with our team to clearly and effectively communicate with Gaskin Asset Management clients in the Greater Charlotte community and beyond. Her role involves meeting preparatory and follow up letters, planning recommendation letters, market related commentary, client contact management, educational materials and community events. Her over 10 years of experience in marketing, writing, financial planning and managing client relationships makes her highly qualified for her role.

She also serves our team as resident financial planner. In this capacity, she meets with professionals, business owners, retirees and other investors to identify and clarify both short-term needs and long-term goals. Ivey works with our team’s Senior Financial Advisors to build actionable financial plans that will guide our asset management recommendations as well as our client’s decision-making process leading up to and throughout retirement.

For her education, Ivey made the trek up the mountain to Boone, North Carolina and will forever be a proud Appalachian State University Alumnus. She is an honors graduate from the Walker College of Business with a major in finance and banking. She continues to be involved with the college; participating in educational speaking engagements and mock interviews for enthusiastic business students.

Ivey began her career with BB&T in their Leadership Development Program. It was here that she completed her necessary licenses and registrations; Series 7, Series 66 and insurance licenses (life, health and long term care). She also completed all necessary coursework and obtained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. She went on to join BB&T Wealth as a Private Advisor where she cultivated both current and new relationships for the bank. She would engage clients and their families in fee based financial planning to establish appropriate goals to reach economic success and financial security. She served her community as a two-term president for the Professional Women of Winston Salem, an organization focused on networking, professional and personal development. She enjoys teaching and public speaking and has spoken publicly and via podcasts on multiple occasions.

Ivey and her husband, Brett, are temporarily in Cleveland, Ohio, for Brett to continue his surgical training in plastic surgery. Ivey and Brett have three sons, Eli, Graham and Aiden that bring the two more joy than they could ever imagine. Ivey brings nearly a decade of experience in competitive training and group exercise and serves as an advocate for health as a health and fitness coach. One of Ivey’s defining characteristics is her thirst for community and eagerness to connect. Ivey is a prolific writer and is nearly finished with a children’s book, her own novel and is currently working with Bob to complete a few industry related books. Stay tuned.
